Irish is the traditional language of the Irish people, and is amongst the oldest of all European languages. Early Irish literature dates to the 4th Century AD and has the oldest vernacular literature in all of Western Europe. Irish is the also the national and first official language of the Republic of Ireland.

The Irish language has deep roots in Irish tradition, culture, and identity. In the 20th and 21st century, there has been a resurgence in Irish language learning to help preserve this ancient and important cultural treasure.
